Children on the Autism Spectrum and those with Developmental Delays process life’s events differently. They see the world differently. And because of this, therapy must be done differently. Dr. Robert Jason Grant understood this and created a Play therapy curriculum that would allow Autistic children and others, to develop skills and cope with life events, in their own unique way. AutPlay was designed especially for children on the Spectrum and with Developmental Delays. It incorporates play with therapeutic interventions on a level that children on the spectrum can understand and utilize in their daily life to help with school issues, family issues, and social issues. Strength based interventions allow play to be a crucial factor as your child works through and develops lifelong skills.
Autism brings a different set of strengths and challenges. Play Therapy at Guiding Light Counseling Center embraces this diversity and our therapists use evidence based therapy practices to help clients strive to be successful. This can be social skills training, behavioral interventions, resources and support for the client and their family.
