I am proud that my practice is diverse in age and diagnosis. Life is full of possibilities and having the right person as you begin that journey is crucial. People, especially children who process through emotions and events differently and having a flexible approach allows for a smoother transition. I make it my professional goal to meet my clients where they are at, create a safe environment for them to work through the events or problems that my clients face allowing them to emerge with new strength. I promise to collaborate with you, your children, and your family to find, foster, and increase your strengths as a tool to help overcome any challenge should you engage in therapy with me.

I have been working with children, adolescents, adults, and families in the mental health field in Cedar Rapids for 10+ years. I have experiences with a variety of families from diverse cultures. My qualifications make me effective in my therapeutic work with children. I utilize a variety of approaches guided by training: AutPlay, Adlerian Play Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, & trauma. I specialize in working with children ages 3-18 and adults, who are experiencing: anxiety, mood disorders, trauma, divorce, separation anxiety, school anxiety & more. I have unique experiences and training to work with children with significant health barriers including cleft-lip & palate, diabetes, birth defects, and I can integrate Christian-based counseling & prayer into my therapy sessions.

Life can be challenging. We are all human, and we all struggle at times. I believe through the presence of support and compassion in therapy, change is possible. This belief drives me to connect with my clients in a real and genuine way, encouraging clients to come as they are and be themselves. I am passionate about working with people from all populations and backgrounds. I strive to provide a safe and supportive space to help clients realize their own internal and external resources for change. But I do more than just sit and listen, I am active in facilitating tools and interventions tailored to the specific needs identified. Each person’s experiences are unique and should be treated with the utmost care and respect. Being invited into someone’s world is the most humbling and honoring experience. My goal is to help all that I work with process and heal from past or present experiences to then work towards how to live their most authentic and healthiest lives.

Have you ever woken up and felt like getting out of bed was like trying to climb Mount Everest, but no one understood? Ever just thought about work and felt fear clawing at your chest and throat? Have you been told you were not “trying hard enough” or were just “unmotivated” or “lazy” when behind the scenes you try so hard it overwhelmed you? I have, and you are not alone. Now imagine waking up, jumping out of bed, feeling refreshed. Imagine knowing that despite the challenges you know you have the strength to over “fills you with determination”. Imagine that, even on the worse days, you know “this too shall pass”.

This is what I help my clients to develop and strengthen. I provide an inclusive, non-judgmental, and welcoming space for all who enter. I design my office to feel comfortable, and I use humor, connection, conversation, and unconditional acceptance to build a collaborative relationship where we work as a team to grow your strengths, support, and wellness.

I look forward to getting to know you and helping you start your journey of hope and wellness.
